Concerns about air pollution from the proposed 37-megawatt wood-fired power plant and the tractor trailers bringing woodchips to the North Springfield site dominated a public hearing Wednesday night.

    2. How old are you? How intelligent are you?

    3. Springfield is not about intelligence, it's about sheep being led to the slaughter by the pigs.

  2. But isn't alternative energy, green energy? I'm so confused. I'll just keep protesting VY and beating my prayer drum so I feel good about myself.

Most likely working in the machine shops that are now closed and the buildings vacant because of the underground pollution would be my guess. Heaven forbid that we put industry in an industrial park and give some work to the local woodcutters harvesting waste wood.

  4. the answer is craft manufacturing, local farming/food production, arts and information technology - education and incubator. I live pt in springfield,it's a nice town. wish I could perform my i.t. craft there but it isnt possble. i'd be fine with taking less pay but the jobs arnt there. grow cherry peppers, fish the river, skiing, spring asparagus. this burning plant is so anti everything I love about vt and springfield. I think you need new leadership in spfd - ones that can take a stand for the right things. spfd can go one of two ways with regard to progression. the possibilities are still there. state leadership needs to support programs in spfd that will turn it around. the burn plant sends the wrong message and the wrong image. squeaky wheel gets the grease when fighting for state support. please spare me the go home flatlander hate stuff, i pay taxes here.

I sympathize with the craft movement, but we do have to have other jobs and the forest related jobs that his will produce are desperately needed. Besides we are heating our schools with woodchips already, and this is less of a pollution concern than the woodstoves or the sugarhouses which are symbolic of Vermont
