Man faces 5th DUI
charge after stop
CHELSEA — A 79-year-old Springfield man who was allegedly caught driving without a license for the eighth time in Chelsea over the weekend is now facing what will be his fifth drunken-driving charge.
Vermont State Police said they watched Eugene Dion’s silver Chevrolet truck swerve across the centerline on Jenkins Brook Road twice late Saturday night before pulling the vehicle over shortly before 11:30 p.m.
Police said they quickly determined Dion was driving with a suspended license and alleged that he was also impaired.
Dion was arrested, processed at the Orange County Sheriff’s Department in Chelsea, and released on a citation to appear in criminal court there Sept. 12. Police said he is expected to be charged with his fifth DUI offense, as well as with driving with a suspended license for the eighth time.
Now what they need to do is provide him with a chafeur in exchange for his cooperation in a study of his liver. It must be one that should be cloned in the interest of science. He sounds like a geriatric champion, the younger generation just don't make 'em like that anymore.
