Bulldogs edge Cosmos in 2OT
BOYS SOCCER
Burr and Burton 2, Springfield 1 (2 OT)
MANCHESTER — Reid Conde scored his 16th goal of the season to propell top-seeded Burr and Burton over No. 8 Springfield. The assist went to Brock Pollard, who drove into the penalty box and evaded a defender before ripping a shot on goal. Conde got a foot on the loose ball in front of the net and sent it to the back of the goal.
“It was just a typical hard-fought playoff game,” BBA coach Peter Mull said.
Burr and Burton, which outshot the Cosmos 22-2, also got a goal from Zack Stewart near the 29 minute mark.
Mike Nolan gave up just his sixth goal of the season in the win, with the Cosmos’ Devon Brady tallying.
Undefeated Burr and Burton will host No. 4 Green Mountain Valley in the Division II semifinal game on Monday at 2 P.M.
With a 16-0 record, Mull says his players must not take Monday’s game lightly.
“The guys know Green Mountain Valley is a tough team,” Mull said. “They’re on a role, and hopefully we use today’s game to prepare ourselves for them.”
