There will be no arrests in an alleged solicitation of a young girl in Springfield, according to Springfield Police Chief Doug Johnston.
Police interviewed the alleged victim after the incident but the girl could not recall what the man said to her, Johnston said. The police dropped the case based on lack of information.
“The victim didn't know if he was mumbling or directing something at her, nor did she know whether he was on a phone,” Johnston said. “He is very slow and has a mental health issue on that aspect of things. To our knowledge
there is no threat community.”
According to the initial police report, the 12-year-old girl was walking home from Riverside Middle School on Jan. 14 when she saw a man and thought he asked for a sexual favor. The man walked behind her for one-tenth of a mile before the child crossed River Street and headed home, the police report said.
Police investigated the complaint after an off-duty state trooper and a group of youths recognized the man that approached the girl, according to Springfield Police Sergeant Robert Simmons.

destroyed for life by social media
Yes, really nice 12 year old just triggered all kinds of alerts and can't even remember what he allegedly said. Have seen similar life destroying stuff which makes me hesitant to repost anything like that until they have a chance to sort things out.
DeleteThis little girl seemed to remember exactly what the man said to her when talking to her peers at school. Seems she only lost her memory when talking to police. Sad state of affairs when the entire school district robo - called parents to warn them of the danger to their children, but the police see no problem and suddenly the child can't remember what was said to her. Very strange to me.
DeleteCan you imagine how scared that little girl was of course she couldn't remember its called nerves, and any grown adult following a little girl is inappropriate. I am truly sad we have to live in a town that defends these type of street people rather than their children.
ReplyDeleteHow many feet do you have to be behind someone before its called not being followed?
ReplyDeletedon't go out in public..
Deleteans STAY OUTA N.Y.!!
Simply following her is not against the law and if she either can't remember or refuses to cooperate, there is nothing the police can do...
