'Doo-doo' a ‘no-no’ for any biomass plant, panel decides

Concerns that “animal waste” might mean the disposal of manure as well as animal carcasses in a biomass plant, the Springfield Planning Commission has again fine-tuned the language in the revised Springfield Town Plan.

  1. These Biomass articles are more and more amusing. They always seem to read like a comic.

  5. Ben & Jerry's ice cream company, in honor of their former plant in North Springfield that is now occupied a large-scale butchery shop, has decided to bring out a new flavor called Cowie Yowie! If you like cow poop, which most Springfielders are being constantly fed, you will love Cowie Yowie. Ben & Jerry's plans on another flavor in the near future as soon as the Biomess plant gets cranked up. They plan on calling it Hacking Berry. Tastes like cough syrup and looks like the Black River when the Shoddy Mill was operating.

  7. There are environmental concerns about the biomass plant, but I'm more concerned about people in the Springfield area being gainfully employed. If they put in a clause in the contract, that every new job at the biomass plant gets filled by a local Vermonter, most of my concerns dramatically diminish.
An aside, hyperbolic statements don't help anyone.

  8. The proposed biomass plant will be the 2nd biggest polluter in vermont.--that is no bull.

  9. I am concerned about peoples health before employment. They will ultimately employ 30 people at most. Move into the right century--Biomass is dead and that is why they have been stopped in Mass. You still in the era where smoking ciggs in a car with kids is O.K.? Solar is the way--not burning 16 cords of woods an hour in a bowl shapped valley.
