Springfield Hospital History Exhibit Open to Public
Posted on 2/8/2013
Springfield, VT - Springfield Hospital will soon be celebrating its 100th anniversary. In honor of this milestone, a new history exhibit is now open to the public on Level 3 at the new Springfield Health Center, 100 River Street, Springfield, VT.
Planning for the Springfield Hospital began in 1913, with the first building opening for patients in March of 1914. The hospital was located on Mount Vernon Street. It had one operating room, 12 beds, and three basinets. The new history exhibit displays some of the hospital’s original furnishings that have been generously donated by community members, along with other early medical paraphernalia such as a stethoscope and blood pressure machine. Visitors of all ages will also enjoy viewing the historic photographs of the hospital co-founders, nurses, and treatment rooms.
The permanent exhibit is a project of Springfield Hospital's Development Office. For more information, please contact Larry Kraft, Development Director, at 802-885-7644 or via email at lkraft@springfieldmed.org. ###

ReplyDeleteAnonymous 3:28 I have a few questions for you, if you would be willing to answer them?
Delete1. Would you rather stare at a blank wall on your way to your appointment?
2. What made you post about this article?
3. Did this article make you feel anger inside?
and did you see the yellow wallpaper too ?
Deleteany old Bone saws? An old rusty Bone saw would be worth the admission price.
Delete3:28pm I always enjoy good punctuation, but you missed a comma and a period (good use of the semi-colon).
ReplyDelete4:34pm Well done.
I saw this exhibit quite by accident last week and didn't realize it was going to be open to the public. While it is small, it is still unique. It was especially interesting to see the photos with the now displayed objects being in use. Amazing to see how far we have come in the medicine field.
