Windsor County Fair-well

A Springfield summertime tradition is coming to a close just shy of its 40th anniversary.

  1. Nice to see a fiscally responsible response to this situation. If you can't afford it, don't do it. Now if only the government would follow that thought process.

  2. Sorry to see this go. I have fond memories of going when I was a teen, but that was a different time and place.

  3. I'd prefer a scale down of the events, to lower the expense to the county, without canceling the event itself. A change of venue maybe? Can we, as a community, find a place to celebrate our local talents? Contrary to common belief, plenty of people in this town have intellect and ability. Let's all brainstorm for the best showcase of our respective district/county's pride, and put on a show for southern Vermont!

  4. Seth, it's not that hard to figure out. The fair failed to offer the level of entertainment and enthusiasm necessary to attract a crowd. I'm old enough to recall shoulder to shoulder crowds at major AG fairs at Tunbridge, Barton and Addison. The formula is quite simple. Just that the do-gooders killed it. I and my family got bored seeing what amounted to no more then a pet show for stupid alpacas and miniature donkeys.

    For a hint at what an AG used to be in its hayday;
