  1. Come see what is GREAT about Springfield! This is a wonderful event that raises scholarship money for our graduates!

Funny, that the positive things don't get the same amount of comments as the negative things on this blog. Could that be one of the reasons our town is suffering?

  2. What time does the show start?

  3. Actually, I find this to be a rather bizarre, antiquated tradition in the town. People spend hundreds of dollars on the clothes and fees just to participate and show off. Plus, it's really kind of boring.

It's true though that the negative stuff draws much more attention- such is Springfield and the rest of the internet.

  4. It is a means to raise money for scholarships for students majoring in the health field. Yes, I agree there is money spent, but if you have ever had a child or a friend's child who is in it, they will also tell you of the bond that is formed between the participants during the five months of practices. Students who normally would not have opportunities to interact grow to know their classmates better and this can't be a bad thing.

    1. Seems they have more trouble each year getting contestants too. Background stories usually indicate that the whole competition is fixed so everyone pretty much knows who the winner will be long before the night of the show. This might be why more kids don't want to participate, even if it means getting to know more of their classmates than they would in school or other activities. Maybe when the judging stops being so biased and what their parents do for work doesn't make a difference in who wins, more kids will decide to take part in it again.

    4. The people you are referring to are good people. They are involved with the town and they didn't even grow up here. They support their children in school, sports and whatever they do. Their son is a great kid who I know from the baseball and soccer field. I have never heard a bad thing about him. I invite you to come to the ball field on Saturday where he and I will be and state what you typed. I bet you won't! Stay hidden behind your keyboard where you are safe from real people.
