Police say they surprised Evan Willey, 18, in the act of raiding a refrigerator inside a cooking classroom at Springfield High School early Sunday morning. Willey was described as “couch surfing” by his public defender. He was ordered to observe a curfew every night from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning and to call the Springfield Police Department each night just before nine o’clock to tell them where he will be hunkering down for the evening. In an affidavit filed with the court, Springfield Police Officer Daniel Deslauriers said officers were quite familiar with Willey since he was issued a “no trespass” letter in April forbidding him from entering any of the town’s schools and because he had been the focus of five separate “vagrancy type complaints” already this month. Officers began a “sweep” of the interior of SHS at 5:30 a.m. Sunday after it was discovered that one of the doors on the north side of the school had been propped open with a bag of clothing. Deslaurier said police quickly noticed that the lights were on in a culinary classroom and someone had written “This week: Cooking with cannabis” on the blackboard. Police said they found Willey in an adjoining room next to an open refrigerator. After he was handcuffed, Deslauriers said Willey admitted to eating a bagel and some yogurt that he’d found inside the fridge before allegedly stating, “that he was aware of the trespass letter but didn’t know what else to do as he was homeless.” While he was being searched at the Springfield Jail correctional officers also reported finding a gram of marijuana in his pant’s pocket, which resulted in a misdemeanor possession charge that Willey also pleaded innocent to during his court appearance Monday afternoon.
"He was ordered to observe a curfew every night from 9 p.m. until 6 a.m. the next morning and to call the Springfield Police Department each night just before nine o’clock to tell them where he will be hunkering down for the evening. "
ReplyDeleteGreat, now the liberal courts are turning our police force into baby sitters... gotta love the liberal disease.
Well, I think it is sad. The kid was hungry and homeless. HOWEVER-not sad enough for him to have weed on him! Where did that money come from to buy it? I mean, where is the common sense in this story? If he is truly homeless then it is sad, but, come on! Couch surf and get a damn job dude!
ReplyDeleteI don't fee sad for him at all. We're all in control of our own destiny. Anyone who states otherwise has no concept of Human Nature.
ReplyDeleteLet me go out on a limb here and speculate he's the product of a single parent household.
ReplyDeleteThe best possible path for this young man is to get his butt to a recruiter's office today. Discipline, self respect, and a positive, MALE role model would work wonders.
I agree.
DeleteI'm waiting on someone to claim low birth weight
ReplyDeleteNo ,You have it all wrong, it`s all his mothers fault because she didnt have positive role models and she hung around the wrong people.
DeleteDon`t you ever read Chucks posts?
Havent you learned anything from his ramblings?
LOL.
Who did this Mr. Willey have for a male role model? This calls for some Internet research or, better yet, checking around town...

ReplyDeleteAre you joking? Plenty of us grew up with single mothers who had the intestinal fortitude to dump a wife beater and are neither homeless nor theives. On the contrary, there is nothing like having a single mother for a parent to teach you self sufficiency.
What was that about MALE role models again?
I vote for not being breast fed
ReplyDeleteI knew Evan when he was just a toddler and his twin brother. I do not understand how his mother could let him be homeless. It's obvious he got into "weed" and is heading for real trouble. He needs to get his act together and grow up. I really hate to see a young person throw away any chance of a life. The schools are failing to care about all students and giving them the guidance and help they need to go on to a successful life. Makes me very sad to see Evan arrested and on wanted lists. Basically a nice kid that had no guidance.
