Published June 29, 2013 in the Rutland Herald Charlestown woman missing; feared in danger By Kyle Jarvis THE KEENE SENTINEL CHARLESTOWN, N.H. — The New Hampshire attorney general’s office is investigating the disappearance of a 42-year-old Charlestown woman, a dental hygienist working in Springfield, Vt. Authorities said Kelly J. Robarge was probably injured or worse. “The investigation has revealed that Kelly likely suffered significant physical harm or death,” the attorney general’s office said in a statement. About 4:30 p.m. Thursday, Charlestown police received a report that Robarge had not been seen or heard from since late morning that day, according to a news release from the attorney general’s office. Attempts by family members to reach her have been unsuccessful, and the circumstances surrounding Robarge’s disappearance are suspicious, according to police. Robarge lives at 124 Happy Acres Road in Charlestown. Friday afternoon, a New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit van was seen entering Happy Acres, a quiet neighborhood in a rural area on the Charlestown/Claremont border off Route 12, along with an unmarked police car and a Charlestown police cruiser following closely. State and local police, including search dogs, were seen in the area Friday. Also Friday, New Hampshire State Police and Vermont State Police visited a home at 37 Westminster West Road in Saxtons River, Vt. Police there declined to comment. Robarge’s estranged husband, James R. Robarge, had been staying at the Saxtons River home, said Rose Koske, a friend and neighbor. Koske said James Robarge was staying with his stepfather after he and Kelly Robarge recently separated. Koske said James and Kelly Robarge recently attended Motorcycle Week in Laconia together, and it was her understanding that James Robarge hoped to reconcile their marriage. But Kelly Robarge filed for divorce Thursday, citing irreconcilable differences, according to records in 5th Circuit Court Family Division in Claremont. Kelly and James Robarge have been married for 21 years. They have two adult daughters and a young grandchild, Koske said. Kelly Robarge is a 1989 graduate of Fall Mountain Regional High School in Langdon, according to her Facebook page, and Koske said she is a dental hygienist and works in Springfield, Vt. Koske said her family had James Robarge and his stepfather over for dinner as recently as Memorial Day weekend in May, and that the two families became friends while James Robarge was working with her husband at Len-Tex in North Walpole. “When I went into labor with (my son), Kelly came right over and drove me to the hospital,” Koske said. “She was right there in the room when I gave birth to him. She’s a nice girl. She’d do anything for anybody. I pray to God they find her.” Charlestown police officers declined to comment on the investigation when approached on Happy Acres Road on Friday, and earlier in the day Chief Edward Smith referred all inquiries to New Hampshire State Police. Phone messages left for state police were not returned. Anyone with information on the disappearance or whereabouts of Robarge is asked to contact New Hampshire State Police at 271-3636.
Hope they find her well.
