Published June 1, 2013 in the Rutland Herald Otters walk off again SOFTBALL Otter Valley 5, Springfield 4 BRANDON — Cortney Poljacik’s two-run single in the seventh gave the Otters their second-straight walkoff victory. Two straight wins leave them at 9-7 and assure OV of a home playoff game in the Division II tournament. Poljacik had a two-run double in the first but the Otters saw the 7-9 Cosmos overcome a 3-0 deficit to take a 4-3 lead. Winning pitcher Taylor Aines led the seventh with a single and she and Laura Roberts got into scoring position on a two-base throwing error on Roberts’ grounder. Aines struck out four and walked three, scattering five hits. Amy Jones and Aines added two hits each for OV while KK Haskell singled, doubled twice and drove in three runs in support of losing pitcher Heather Sanborn (eight hits, four walks and five strikeouts).
