Published September 4, 2013 in the Rutland Herald Woman serves week for heroin possession By ERIC FRANCIS CORRESPONDENT WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A woman who admitted several packets of heroin fell out of her pocket in a store in March spent the past week in jail as part of a plea deal. Kristina Morgan, 24, a former Springfield resident who now lives in Maine, appeared in court in White River Junction a week ago and pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of heroin possession and two felony counts of burglary and identity theft. The felony charges involved a daytime break-in at her stepfather’s home in March. Police said a neighbor saw Morgan open a porch window, climb inside and leave with a jar containing $300 in change. Those charges were resolved with a deferred sentence, which means that if Morgan continues to stay out of trouble for the next three years, no sentencing will take place. For heroin possession, Morgan was sentenced to serve six to 12 months, with all but seven days suspended. Police said Morgan made a purchase at Jasinski’s Market on March 1 and left with a pair of male friends. After she left, a store clerk saw five blue postage-stamp-size wax paper packets on the floor. The clerk picked up the small bags, all stamped with “Grind City” and a skyline logo, and put them in the back office while she called police. The clerk saw Morgan return briefly with her male friends, police said, and they walked up every aisle of the store looking at the floors before leaving. Springfield Police Officer Anthony Leonard said the store’s video surveillance clearly showed something small and blue falling out of Morgan’s pocket as she took out money. Leonard said the total amount of heroin in the packets was just over a gram
Had enough yet?
ReplyDeleteWhat is it going to take to get you low information voters to smarten the hell up? You have no one but yourselves to blame for liberal judges that refuse to protect your community and family.
Kristina Morgan plead guilty to, § 4233. Heroin
Possession in excess of 1 gram. A felony punishable by imprisonment of not more than 10 years or fined not more than $250,000.00, or both. Yet, she spends only a week in jail watching cable TV?
Even more infuriatingly unacceptable is all charges are deferred on a break-in and theft. Odds are 1M:1 that it wasn't her first theft. And trust me, if she would steal from her own family, she wouldn't hesitate to rob your own Grand Mother.
So go ahead, have another rally. March thru town. Put up foolish signs. Wring your hands and bemoan economics and culture for the plight. Fact is, you now have exactly the government you deserve.
AMEN anon 9:56- I am sure we will get all the same crap about how well it serves the system and saves taxpayer money, how much it costs to rehabilitate, blah blah blah. What nobody ever states is that THE PROBLEM is not solved. You just moved it and made nobody accountable for the crimes they currently committed.
ReplyDeleteWould you let the shooter in Newtown/Sandy Hook elementary go on a "deferred" sentence? Then why the hell are we not demanding from our state officials to dole out the highest degree possible to deter these people from coming here? Heroin kills slower but will eventually kill your child if they are introduced to it. They will use and use and use. Then they will steal and possibly kill to get more. There is no recovery from it. You may stop using at some point with extended treatment but a person will always desire and need the drug. Relapse is in the future and the cycle continues.
The poster above states the truth. You got the elected officials you deserve. Who put the business of rehab before your family safety. Each one of you who fails to voice their opinion and vote gets exactly what you deserve.
1 gram= 10 years 250,000 wow because they put something in their own body. what about a womans right to choose? its her body im always told.

DeleteOne look at this junkie's Facebook page reveals she is as pure as the driven snow. I'll bet she'll join the PTA any day now and become a highly productive member of society. I also expect Publisher's Clearing House to come by my door this afternoon with a check for a million dollars.
ReplyDeletePortugal has legalize all drug use & drug use continues to decrease even though there is no punishment. Interesting.! The North American "War on Drugs" didn't work in Reagan's days & it certainly isn't working now. Addiction is a complicated issue. What's down the road? Toss fatty's in jail for their food or candy addictions. One can say "those fatty's using medicare, medicaid with diabetes, etc. are using taxpayers money on medical expenses that could have been avoided if they took better care of themselves. Pointing fingers are part of the problem they are not part of the solution. Anger has a purpose, okay, but how one use's it is another story all together.
