Sheriffs 'watch' psychiatric patients in ER

The state has been hiring county sheriffs to sit with mentally ill patients in hospital emergency departments because there are too few beds for people who need intensive psychiatric care.

  1. Your tax dollars at "work". How broken is our system? Yet our governor brags that we have the best in the nation. If that's so, God help the rest of the nation!

  2. The State mental hospital in Waterbury had a very valuable role. There is a distinct element that demands that level of care. To expect our local community to subsidize SMS service to these uninsured, worthless, criminals is no longer tolerable.
