The deal calls for him to serve a minimum of five years in jail and undergo sex offender treatment. George Simonds, 44, pleaded guilty to a single felony count of sexual assault Tuesday at White River Junction criminal court. Wednesday, he pleaded guilty in Brattleboro criminal court to a charge of lewd and lascivious conduct involving another girl in the same time period. Simonds, who has been in jail since his arrest in August, will not be formally sentenced until a pre-sentencing investigation is completed. However, the plea agreement discussed in court Tuesday call for a five-year-to-life sentence, sex offender treatment and registration as a sex offender when he is released. Simonds had been living on disability checks and was just been placed on probation last July, court records show. Springfield Police Detective Anthony Moriglioni wrote that the case unfolded rapidly after one of the girls told relatives that Simonds had shown her a porn video and then engaged in several of the depicted sex acts with her. Moriglioni said Simonds initially denied the accusations, saying “I’m not a sick person” and “I’m not a bad guy.” He eventually said “stuff” had happened in line with events the girl had described, the officer said.
What are the names of the blithering idiots on the parole board that unleashed this monster in July? Are they still in a position to further destroy innocent lives? Why am I not surprised Shumlin appointed them.

The parents of these children should also be sentenced for child endangerment.

DeleteLet him serve 5 years. When he gets out, he'll wish he served 15. I am now ashamed to be a Vermont resident. 5 years to serve after ruining a child's life is ridiculous. What is Vermont thinking?? A person that slaps a woman will get more time. Why is it that a man can assault an innocent life in a disgusting manner, and not have to serve life? A person that would touch a child in that manner is a predator.
