A new slaughterhouse that is set to open in North Springfield is already talking about possible expansion.

  2. I think we should have a protest on Good Friday. The killing of innocent animals should stop.

    1. Hmmm, I must have missed the verse in the Bible where Jesus declared that he was a vegetarian!

  3. I'm lost for words.. How could this be happening? First off what kind of a person can massacre poor defenseless animals? Where's the protestors for the slaughter of animals? They're more worried about biomass with to many trucks driving in and out. What about the trucks filled with cows, calf's, lamb, sheep and goats going to be SLAUGHTERED? Why is this ok? This organization in North Springfield certainly has only concern. Just for themselves. Maybe they all need to visit a place where animals are being slaughtered. Watch the cruelty and in human things that these people do to these defenseless animals!!! What is happening to Springfield? It's become a place of disturbed individuals. I can not believe you people would allow this go on?! This is much worse than any biomass. Where do you think the blood goes from the poor animals? And body parts? You all should take a look on the internet to see the abuse these poor animals will be facing before their death. I wonder how Ben & Jerry would feel about this happening in a place where they made ice cream?! You people are a disgrace to humanity!!

You just picking up on that? Hahaha.

"I wonder how Ben & Jerry would feel about this happening in a place where they made ice cream?!"

You mean the guys that closed up shop, taking away jobs and leaving another building to dilapidate. When they break away from counting their millions made selling ice cream maybe they will answer that question.

I tend to buy all my steaks and roast with bone in. That way I know the bones are being discarded properly. Or in layman's terms buried in the back yard by my dog.

I think at one time someone tried to arm defenseless animals, it was a disaster. The animals stopped using natural hunting techniques and started shooting each other, blaming the senseless murders on humans. The animals had to be disarmed.

To Anonymous 12:17 AM: Billions of people eat meat seven days a week. That's the only reason the animals you are concerned about exist. The slaughterhouse is just the end of an impersonal (and yes, inhuman) assembly line process that provides meat for food - along with, of course, a competitive profit to owners of the business. If you want this changed, then you need to convince the populace to change what they eat. Good luck with that. Ah, you yourself don't, I assume, eat meat?

  6. It's ok 12:17, calm down.

The article says that the plant is designed according to the concept developed by Temple Grandin. Instead of being poked and prodded, the animals walk willingliy to their deaths.

There, don't you feel better now?
