On Saturday, in the span of two hours, a group of volunteers hand-pulled 35 pounds of this invasive plant at Springweather Nature Area.

The sign-in table |
The trails seemed mostly clear of garlic mustard, most of the infestation is along the road so it seems it is being spread by mowing after seed-set. Pull organizer Kelly Stettner said, "I'll be talking with the Army Corps guy about not mowing after it has set seed -- should be able to hit it in early June and then maybe we can come pick whatever's tall and seed-filled before they mow again."

The long and short of it: Enviromental activist Kelly Stettner with John Farnsworth of the Army Corps of Engineers check on some of the weed pullers to see how things are going. |

Except for one brief shower at the very start, the weather cooperated. |
