Springfield, Vermont is a growing town that is need of some culture. Right now, in order to get decent craft supplies you have to travel 30 minutes to an hour. Art classes in this area are expensive and cost around $80 per class. My project is to start a space out of which I will sell craft supplies and hold classes as well as having space for people to work on projects in the store. I will carry the basic supplies for beading, painting and paper crafting as well as offer to special order items that I don't carry. I hope to offer to have birthday parties in house and also be able to make the space handicapped accessible so that everyone can enjoy the space. The enviroment will be homey and there will be a living room/workspace area which will be furnished with a couch and a work table. There will always be freshly made coffee and great conversation. I have the space already and the rent is paid through the end of June. I have about half of the inventory, but my funds have run out. Now, I am asking for YOUR help to make this project possible. The other reason that I am working on this project is that I have recently been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia and working at a regular job has become impossible. I would like to continue to work, and to contribute to my community. Being able to set up the shop to work within my abilities and to be my own boss will make this possible.
The proprietor characterizes Springfield as a "growing town", which makes me wonder if she isn't fooling herself about the probability for success or failure of this endeavor.
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're bringing this fun shop to Springfield, Miriam! How neat that it's just down the block from the Rec Center. The joy of creating art is something for everyone to share! I'll look forward to hearing about the colorful craft classes and children's birthday celebrations.
