Murder case leads to unrelated count May 20,2015 Murder case leads to unrelated count SPRINGFIELD — A Brattleboro man who was allegedly in New Hampshire with accused murderer Gregory Smith is accused of violating the conditions of his furlough. Joshua Stratton, 29, of Brattleboro, was in Keene, N.H., with Smith on April 18, police said. Stratton was on furlough at the time and was prohibited from leaving the state, according to police. Detective Sgt. Scott Dunlap of the Vermont State Police said Stratton had been on furlough after being convicted on drug charges. The charges against Stratton were brought as a result of the investigation of the shooting murder of Wesley J. Wing, 37, of Springfield, on April 18. Smith has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Wing. Police accused Smith of shooting Wing four times near the Southview Apartments complex in Springfield after Wing complained about drug activity in the neighborhood. Police gave no information about the nature of the relationship between Stratton and Smith. Probation and Parole revoked Stratton’s furlough on May 6. He is being held in the Springfield jail.
