Job Description CHIEF PAID EXECUTIVE
TITLE: Executive Vice President
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Primary: General management and coordination of all organization activities. Under the direction of the Board of Directors, carries out the Chamber’s objectives and implements Chamber policies.

Supervisory: Supervises Chamber of Commerce staff.
Summary of Primary Duties and Responsibilities (in general terms)
  1. PROGRAM OF WORK – Guides the development of the Chamber’s overall “Program of Work”. Is responsible for directing and implementing the “Program of Work”, including all policies adopted by the Board of Directors.
  2. MEMBERSHIP OUTREACH – Responsible for solicitation of new members and maintenance of current membership. Work with Board of Directors and any appropriate committees to develop material for membership information.
  3. MEMBER AND PUBLIC RELATIONS – Responsible for all communications to the membership and general public.
    1. a)  News Releases Prepares news releases as needed on behalf of the
      Chamber, including all publicity for Chamber events (e.g. Apple
      Festival)
    2. b)  Official Publications: Prepares or directs the preparation of official
      publications of the Chamber such as the Chamber Guide, Springfield
      Map etc.
    3. c)  Public Speaking: Represents the organization in public and may speak
      on behalf of positions taken by the Chamber as designated by the
      Board of Directors.
    4. d)  VACE: Attends quarterly meetings of Vermont Association of
      Chamber of Commerce Executives (VACCE) and certain other Chamber meetings as is deemed appropriate.
  1. General: Maintains close liaison with all groups in the community, including town and school governments and area legislators. Counsel and advise on developments affecting the business community.
  2. Member Publicity: Responsible for effectively publicizing chamber members, their businesses, and events in the community.
  1. MARKETING – Responsible for all marketing functions of the Chamber, which serve as the primary outreach vehicle for Springfield, and the region. To include maintenance and development of all appropriate visitor information, relocation material and administrative responsibility for Chamber website and other social media outlets. Also, responsible for administration of other marketing activities, as deemed necessary for the region by the Board of Directors (e.g. Regional Marketing Program).
  2. COMMITEES – Supervises and assists all committees as established by the Board of Directors.
  3. PERSONNEL (STAFF) – Has responsibility for all personnel paid and volunteer. In charge of employment of needed personnel – (recruiting, hiring and firing).
  4. FINANCE – Takes leadership role with the finance committee in the development budget for the approval of the Board of Directors; approves all specific expenditures coming under the budget adopted by the Board. Proposes staff salaries for Board action; directs office maintenance, including replacement of equipment as needed. Prepares or directs preparation of financial statement on monthly basis for Board of Directors.
