Police: Man found crawling ‘like a zombie’ By ERIC FRANCIS CORRESPONDENT | August 31,2015 Email Article Print Article WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — Police: Man found crawling ‘like a zombie’ By ERIC FRANCIS CORRESPONDENT | August 31,2015 WHITE RIVER JUNCTION — A Springfield man who police said was crawling “like a zombie” while under the influence of “bath salts” has been sentenced to two months in jail. Dwight Bundy, 31, pleaded guilty last week to disorderly conduct obstructing pedestrian and vehicular traffic before he was returned to the Springfield prison where he was already incarcerated on an unrelated matter. Springfield Police Cpl. Michael Gilderdale wrote in his affidavit that he was dispatched to Pearl Street in Springfield on June 30 to help an ambulance crew with a seizure patient. He said traffic was halted and a crowd was gathering around Bundy, yelling at him about “the druggies in town and what it was going to take to get the police to clean them up.” Gilderdale said Bundy “kept tipping forward onto his face. ... His face was red and the veins in his neck and arms were bulging, (and) his knees and elbows were bloody.” Bundy told him he “just felt sick,” the officer said. He flung a pill bottle with 10 prescription pills into the weeds, the affidavit said. Bundy refused to go to the hospital and was released by the Springfield Ambulance crew. He allegedly told Gilderdale the prescription pills were not his, and was placed under arrest. In December, Bundy was arrested on a charge of possessing bath salts and allegedly told police he was dependent on bath salts and heroin. Police said he claimed to have trouble getting into a drug rehab program due to lack of insurance. As a resident of the Pearl Street neighborhood I can bear witness first hand, this is far from an isolated incident and direct backlash from the addicts that endlessly loiter around the U-Turning Point. Think not? Walk past there any evening.
ReplyDeleteThat's ridiculous and COMPLETELY incorrect! Get a clue, put your finger down and stop judging people who are ACTUALLY DOING SOMETHING ABOUT THEIR PROBLEMS!
DeleteGet a clue..."Anonymous"
DeleteAlright Kim, if you dislike try to invest yourself to make it change.
ReplyDeleteYou're a moron and obviously have no clue what the Turning Point is all about. The people that you see out there are actually doing something about their problems. Get a clue and stop judging people, "Anonymous"
ReplyDeleteThe disproportionate amount of litter, graffiti, broken windows, vagrants, police calls, and the adjacent unsalable vacant home speak to the detriment of the U-Turning Point. Bad enough it's a tax exempt property supported by working home owners, now we have to endure our modest equity compromised by a hang-out for lazy drunks. How about instead of endlessly chain smoking and loitering about while waiting for their EBT card balance to be renewed, someone find the ambition to help clean up the neighborhood?
DeleteYour ignorance only perpetuates more ignorance, intolerance.
DeleteThe litter & broken windows have nothing to do with the Turning Point people. That stuff's been happening in that area since long before that place started. Don't cite every problem you can think of and blame people you've decided you're gonna hate no matter what. Turning Point is a necessary part of addressing drug & alcohol problems in Springfield.
Delete"Like a zombie"...is that a term law enforcement uses because they have actually seen real Zombies and know how they motivate? Cripes. The term judgmental is a term used by someone not wanting to be examined. Its inflammatory and meant to sidetrack.
