Man avoids river plunge in Springfield crash

An elderly Cavendish man was injured Saturday afternoon when he drove his pickup off a 10-foot-tall stone embankment near the Springfield Senior Center, almost landing in the Black River.

    Sure, but the proper headline should have been: River avoids man's plunge in Springfield crash.

    The man didn't avoid anything. He went right over the wall onto dry ground. The river just happens to run further to the west.
