SPRINGFIELD — A 23-year-old Springfield, Vermont man has died of injuries suffered in a pedestrian accident Monday on Chester Road in Springfield.
Springfield Police Chief Douglas S. Johnston said Jordan Pfenning succumbed to his injuries Tuesday at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon.
Hospital officials were unable to confirm the information at press time.
Further details regarding the nature of Pfenning's injuries or the cause of death will be released pending the outcome of a state police investigation, Johnston said.
The accident occurred Monday shortly after 6 p.m. in front of McDonald's restaurant on Chester Road at the intersection of Routes 11 and 106 in Springfield.
Police said Pfenning was standing in or near the roadway when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Johnston said the name of the driver is being withheld due to the ongoing investigation. No charges have been filed.
"Once it is complete we will have a better idea of what went on," the chief said.
