Springfield Police Chief Douglas S. Johnston said the man entered the gas station and convenience store located on Route 106 at Maple Street at 7:15 p.m., displayed a firearm and demanded cash. He was last seen leaving the area on foot with money from the register, police said. "We don't know how much money he got," said Johnston. The suspect was wearing a light colored jacket with a hood over his jead. Police are reviewing store surveillance video and have released a photograph of the suspect that was taken from the footage. In the photo, it appears the suspect is armed with a rifle or pump shotgun. Johnston said it was the seventh robbery of the store during this year, and he attributed it to the remote location. "It's on the outskirts of the town versus the more condensed area," he said. The chief said police do not yet have any solid leads and that random robberies of gas stations are a challenge to solve. "It all depends on what evidence is available and the witnesses at the scene," he said. Anyone with information is asked to call (802) 885-2113.

ReplyDeleteAnd ya know something else? I bet his family or people close to him knew what was going on, and said nothing
ReplyDeleteI'm no Police Officer or Investigator of any sort, however it's quite obvious the gun is a sawed off pump action shotgun Bernie.
