Miller took part in one burglary of Downer’s Four Corners Store.
The investigation started in late August when the Springfield Rite Aid and Citizen’s ATM were burglarized, damaged. The probe led to multiple arrests for three Downer’s Four Corner Store burglaries, Jake’s South Market Burglary, and an attempted Burglary of the Irving Station in N. Springfield.

What do you make of a small town where football stars become thieving addicts? There's always been this strange malevolence at work in Springfield and its goal is to bring out the worst in people and reject their very best. It's the town that doubts potential, points fingers, and refuses progress. It has a knack for endorsing the insecurities of its people, and it devours the dreams of its youth. Yet people take refuge in Springfield. They swore for years they'd flee, never to look back. Yet, when life gets tough, they race back seeking refuge within the proverbial bubble, where they know that being the best you can be is irrelevant. There's no room to succeed in Springfield, but plenty of space to hide in that comfort zone of "who cares."
ReplyDeleteStories like these are eye opening. No wonder the youth of Springfield turn to the artificial joy of opiates. The place they call home in their hearts seems to defer hope and the heart becomes sick.
Hey, 11:59, it sounds like you're ready to read Joe Pageant's book, "Deer Hunting with Jesus." A preview of what Springfield is becoming-- although it is preventable.
ReplyDeletePageant writes about how all his friends who never got out of his home town got their American Dream derailed because of a fair number of factors beyond their control. He was one of the lucky ones-- married at 17 to a 15-year-old, graduated high school, served in the navy during Vietnam, found out afterward the government would help him pay his way through college, left his hometown for good and didn't return until he decided to retire there. What he found had happened to all his friends during those four decades appalled him, and he'd seen enough of the world to know (as they didn't) just how it happened to them.
I suggest you check it out. You can keep it from happening to Springfield.
