Did the United States just elect a monster?

'Dilbert' creator Scott Adams is also a master hypnotist and expert on the techniques of persuasion and manipulation. He predicted 14 months ago on his blog that Trump would win the 2016 presidential election.

“The most important thing when you study hypnosis is that you learn that humans are irrational,” Adams says. “Until you understand that, hypnosis is hard to do.”

I Answer Your Questions About Predicting President Trump

The Persuasion Scorecard Update - One Week Out

In this video, Scott Adams explains Trump's manipulation skills.

  3. Yeah, I could hear it in his speech patterns, tone, etc. The very same techniques used by cult leaders to brainwash their followers. Sleep, America, SLEEEEP!

  4. Turned out that HC's campaign was instrumental in driving non-urban, non-privileged voters to Trump. The irony (Trump is a privileged urbanite) is strong, but undetectable by Mr. Adams.

    1. What privileges does Trump have that aren't available to you Bob? The only difference is that he's worked damn hard to earn them, while you have settled for your "non-urban" existence in Grantfield.

    2. To Miss Anon 1:23 - The Donald was born a billionaire. He's managed to stay that way, through means both fair and foul. Hooray?

    4. Why do all of you wingnuts think people are jealous of you? Is it because you are all malignant narcisists like Trump? I'd rather be on the street with a cardboard sign than be like him or you; at least I'd be earning an honest living!

  5. Why such hateful rhetoric from the people who run this page?

To post an article like that?

    2. I AGREE: I use this site for Springfield news. Originally, I did not see any non-Springfield related news postings. When I brought this up before, one poster wrote, "it's the webmasters decision and I should open my own site".

There is plenty of local news we can argue and debate in a healthy manner on this forum. If I wanted conspiracy theories I would visit infowars.com.

  6. The Democrats have no one but themselves to blame. When they abandoned labor in the 70's and focused on cultural issues, they drove working people into the arms of the Republicans. The D's have been playing the margins ever since. For years now I've been hearing about how people of color are chosing our President. NEWS FLASH- you need White people too! The White working class, fed up with being marginalized by the Democrats, voted for Trump, just like they voted for Reagan in '80. Gays in the military and transgendered bathrooms do NOTHING for working Americans! Wake up feminists, we're just not that into you! (And no, I did not vote for Trump.)

    1. Ah. Gays and transgendered people can't possibly be working Americans. I see.

    2. Even when the truth is screaming in your face, you just can't see it. So, I will AGAIN explain it to you. For 40 years, the Democrats have been ignoring the needs of working people in general, and instead have been passing legislation that benefits the fringe elements of their party. WAKE UP! Union steel workers in Ohio voted for TRUMP! This would not have happened if Hillary and the D's had bothered to go there. Instead, they spent the last two months beating up Trump for his comments about women, instead of highlighting the fact that Trump uses Chinese steel in his buildings, or that his clothing line is outsourced. Hillary chose to try to "win with women" instead of winning with workers. She lost the woman vote as well. Partisans on the left can either wake up to reality, or keep losing elections to the right. It's that simple. Do homosexuals and transgendereds work? I assume most do. So, let's focus on economics, and they'll benefit as well. I think Bernie would agree.

    3. @Anon 12:59 - You're ready way to much into it. The simple fact (proven by actual vote counts) is that Republicans vote for the R on the ticket and Democrats vote for the D on the ticket. The D's lost this time because D turnout was 10% LESS than it was in 2012. If the D's had simply bothered to vote, it would have been "Madam President", they didn't, so it isn't.

    4. To 10:16, while it is true that voter turnout was low, it is not as simple as R's and D's. Between one-third and one-half the country are independents, like myself. Many of Trump's supporters would have voted for Bernie, as would many of those who stayed home. My point is that at a time when the voters were demanding change, the radical feminist status quo in the Democratic party put up a flawed female candidate with a ton of baggage, just to "break the glass ceiling" instead of a candidate that people wanted, and who would have won. They have been doing this for years. Chris Christie, Mitch McConnell, and a host of other conservatives owe their positions to having weak, feminist female candidates for opponents. At a time when working people are struggling to feed, house, and clothe themselves and their families, issues such as gay marriage, abortion, or gun control are very low on most people's list of priorities, if there at all. Time for the D's to realise this, and start running stronger, labor-focused candidates. Oh, and Hillary won the popular vote, so it should be Madam President anyway, but that's another issue!

  7. Has he paid his bill for the place he rented up in Burlington during his campaign? Or is this the way he gets rich, by ripping off the small guy? He really has not come out and said what or how he intends to that what (Make America great again). Quite vague. Maybe ripping off whom ever he can is idea of running the country.

The Democrats never labor and focused on cultural issues; they abandoned labor and focused on currying the favor of the 1%, hoping to copy the Republican success. They also copied the House's "pay for play" in which congressmen pay millions to secure influential assignments in their party or on committees. (A Speaker of the House raises $25 million for the privilege of getting the vote.) To keep their sugar daddies happy, they voted for NAFTA, the end of Glass-Steagall, voted to cut taxes for the wealthiest, let the GOP sandbag them on Medicare Part D and Medicare Advantage (leading to the eventual destruction of Medicare, just wait), and on and on and on... The "culture wars" were a sideshow played into the main ring by the GOP so working families' issues would be ignored. It worked very well.

    1. Surd, the D's pander to the 1%, since the Unions (where they used to get their money,) are all but dead. If they had supported labor instead of playing the margins, this would not have happened. But, hey, who need a bunch of "Archie Bunkers" around when you can cobble together a coalition of racial minorities, homosexuals, and radical feminists and win. Until you lose.
