SPRINGFIELD — Studio Momentum is open for business Of course it is; the studio isn’t new. Adults have been attending group fitness classes since opening in 2012. What is new, and quietly gaining momentum, are the expanding opportunities for children.
Earlier this year, Open Play kicked off with two morning sessions. Open Play at Studio Momentum in Springfield is for young children under five and their caregivers. When it’s rainy, or too cold to be outside, Open Play provides an indoor space where toddlers and pre-school children can be busy and active doing things like throwing balls, jumping, climbing, running, and swinging.
Open Play is free for Edgar May members and normally $7 per session for non-members, but in November “Fun is on Sale” — non-members can purchase a 10-visit punch card $400 ($4 per visit-per family). Open Play is a drop-in style open format playgroup located at 71 Main Street in Springfield.
Open Play is available for children ages 6 months through 5 years old on Thursdays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. — with Saturday mornings to be added in the new year.
Swimmers should check out the Family Friday special — non-member family day pass is just $10 on Fridays at the main facility on Clinton Street.
