2016-11-08 / Local Springfield students prove their potential SPRINGFIELD — Twenty-seven fifth through eighth grade students have been acknowledged for being eligible to participate in the 2016-2017 Academic Talent Search, sponsored by the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth (CTY). CTY identifies advanced academic talent in young people and then develops that talent so students maintain high academic standards for themselves throughout their school years. School counselors Jan Rounds of Union Street School and Moria Farnsworth of Riverside Middle School combined their qualifying students for a group photo and recognition for their academic achievement. Sage, a fifth grader in Mrs. Parent’s class said, “I can’t believe this is happening to me, this is the best day."
