    Well, under the Constitution he did. A number of factors played into it, but it might best be summarized by saying the Founding Fathers never imagined a free press would ever be so egregiously motivated by profit as to pander rather than inform a voting public.

      Nor, I'm sure, did they envision an electoral college that would CAUSE someone like Trump to become President, rather than prevent it......
