The Springfield School Board has purchased the property at 47 Union St., including a blue apartment building that sits on the lot in front of the school. Demolition is scheduled for this summer.
I am amazed that this story has drawn no comments. The slum lords of Springfield have the best of both worlds. They don't give a crap about the neighborhood, the property itself or what it's tenants are knowingly doing. All they care about is that the check from the State of VT arrives on the first of the month. They are then rewarded by local officials who purchase and then tear down the properties at taxpayer expense. What a deal! Meanwhile, no one is held accountable and it's business as usual with the usual suspects, out town officials!
