35th Annual Apple Festival will offer fall craft fair, activities for all SPRINGFIELD — The Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce’s 35th Annual Vermont Apple Festival is just around the corner. The festival, which will include a craft fair and activities for all ages, will take place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 at Riverside Middle School. In addition to the usual festivities, some fun new elements will also be included to celebrate this milestone year. Trout River Brewery and Vermont Vines On the River will be on the softball field, pouring beer and wine from noon to 4 p.m. (for patrons 21 and older), and popular local band DV8 will perform classic and southern rock to add a fun, live music atmosphere down by the beer tent. Many familiar, family-friendly activities will also take place, such as the autumn craft fair, pony rides, apple cider making, the Fastest Kid in Town Race, a pie-eating contest and donut-eating contest, food vendors, Springfield Farmer’s Market, and more. A few vendor spots are still available, but filling up fast; contact the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce to check availability. Bakers can enter the Pie Contest, which will award cash prizes for best traditional and non-traditional pie. Participants can register their pie on the day of the event by 10:30 a.m. for judging at 1 p.m. Miss Vermont will be at the festival again as one of the judges. Each pie will become property of the Vermont Apple Festival, and slices will be sold after prizes are awarded. Bakers must include a list of ingredients used in the pie. The yearly event would not be possible without the help of sponsors and their commitment to our community.
