2017-10-11 / Springfield Sec. of State Jim Condos to make Springfield stop in Transparency Tour SPRINGFIELD — Vermont Secretary of State Jim Condos will include a stop in Springfield as part of his fourth biennial state-wide Transparency Tour. The tour will stop at 12 locations across the state to discuss transparency and open government, Vermont’s Public Records Act, and Open Meeting Law with municipal and state employees and citizens who serve on local government boards. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. Locally, Condos plans an event from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Springfield High School (SHS) cafeteria, at 303 South St. “With trust in government at an all-time low, I believe that sunshine is the best disinfectant” said Condos, according to a press release. “Vermonters deserve openness and transparency in government. By educating municipal and state employees, elected officials, and engaged citizens on the requirements of government under Vermont’s Open Meeting Laws and the Public Records Act I hope to help government officials of all stripes better serve Vermonters.” As a longtime proponent of open government and transparency, Condos looks forward to engaging attendees in an informative discussion on the requirements of government officials, and the rights of Vermont citizens, all according to the press release.
