Keith Stern today:

VT GOP chair Deb Billado stated to me:

My office does not actively support candidates until after the primary if there is one. My comment was good and stands based on knowledge at the time I was questioned. Again if there is a primary we do not get involved in support until after the primary.

My response:

Deb the party is being split apart but you could help bring it together. My advise is to release a press statement saying there is a clear distinction between gubernatorial candidates this year. The current governor believes in state control of public education, restricting one's gun rights, maintaining the level of unaffordability of taxes, and the individual mandate for health insurance. His challenger believes in school choice, supports completely the second amendment and article 16, reducing the size of government which will lower taxes, and believes in personal responsibility. Then you can add that while the party can take no position behind a candidate you hope the voters make the right choice for Vermont.

  1. Maybe a hunting rifle would be more appropriate than a gun made for killing kids. Poor judgement.

    1. I can not be quite after that comment, this gun is only made for killing kids when the person behind the gun is evil and is bent on showing the world just how evil they are.
Poor Judgment on a comment... and I'm not necessarily a supporter of Mr Sterns, but when people spin items for their benefit then someone has to stand up and say your wrong.

    3. It's a damn .22! I had one at 9 years old. It's the EXACT SAME THING as a Ruger 10/22. The bullet is smaller around than a pen. It's SEMI automatic, it only shoots 1 round at a time. You are ignorant to say it's designed to kill children.

      Delete
    4. Humm. I have a 22 and 2-22 and the rounds are longer than a .22. Plus the rounds can penetrate a bullet proof vests with clips that are made to hold 50 rounds for rapid fire.

    5. I can tell you don't own any firearms. A .22 cannot penetrate bullet proof vests. And seriously? Clips?

    6. A 223 can.

  3. The gun is lnt made specifically for killing "kids", but don't be mistaken, it is made for peppering people. America has a thing for violence. You can stand on your costitutional soapbox all you want, but the context in which the amendment was written is no longer relevant. Cling to to whatever right you think you're entitled to, assault rifles are doing more harm than good. The British are not coming to invade, nobody is, for that matter. Militias are unnecessary.

Nor is the 1st amendment with regard to motion pictures, television, internet and social media.

May want to study both modern and contemporary history before revealing your profound ignorance.

    2. Profound ignorance eh? You send me a link to a Korean Blog.. perhaps I should join the NRA and hide in my doomsday bunker, with my Desert Eagle while I wait for a North Korean sneak attack!? War, Violence, and Hysteria in the name of patriotism, and I'm the ignorant one. Perhaps you could elaborate on your reference to digital media and the first amendment. I understand the idea of context as it relates to time, but please, elaborate on how that relates to assault rifles?

    4. Perhaps my identifier was a bit harsh. As a likely product of Springfield's school system, where liberal indoctrination trumps academics, reading comprehension of the above, attached link and knowledge of modern history is lacking. The linked incident details Korean-American citizens defending their shops and homes with modern, self-loading, firearms during the 1992 King riot. The photo has rarely been circulated as not fitting of media narrative. As fate had it, I was in LA that same day on business. Navigating unfamiliar neighborhoods in an obvious rental car, had comfort in my 1911 in condition 1.

  6. Well, here we go again. People who know little or nothing about guns, arguing about guns. I was issued an M-16 in the Army, and as an Expert Marksman with it, I can tell you that the only real similarity to the AR-15 is the look. It DOES NOT fire fully automatically; it is NOT a machine gun. Remove the "military" stocks and hand guards, and it is no different from ANY OTHER semi-automatic rifle, such as the RUGER Ranch rifle, which is NOT considered an assault weapon. You can even buy an AK variant with a wooden "sporter" stock, that is also NOT considered an assualt rifle. They all use the same ammunition, and are functionaly no different. The problem with "assault weapons" is that any nut-job militant wannabe can buy them, and many do. The PERCEPTION of these guns as "military issue" is what drives sales, NOT their actual function; most civilian models of these rifles are JUNK! I've owned several of them, and I'll never waste my money on another! That having been said, they ARE the weapon of choice for psycho killers, and SOMETHING needs do be done to address this issue. The idea of taking these guns off the market doesn't really bother me; what I want to know is WHERE DOES IT END? Semi-automatic weapons have legitimate uses, both for personal defense and sporting purposes. If the gun-control zealots get their way, I'm afraid of being left defenseless in the face of a gun wielding psycho, for whom gun laws, and human life, mean NOTHING!

    1. You make a good point. Want to shoot a gun like that, join the military. They are always looking for good and bad men and women. Want to have good odds at raffling off a gun like this to psychos, ur in the right place.

    2. 5:49 pm Psychos Really? When you carry these comments to that level just shows that nothing else you write can be taken to have any value.

    3. So, Roger, you think Cruz and his kind are sane, rational, compassionate citizens? Like the Trump supporter down the road from me who walks around with a sidearm, ranting about Bigfoot and "Hillary the Gun Grabber," and telling people that "bad things will happen" to those who didn't vote for Trump? He and his kind are the reason the 2nd Ammendment exists! I'm just pointing out the irony; the most fervent gun-rights proponents are the reason why most people want gun control!

      Delete
    4. If Your asking if I would prefer Cruz (and his kind, what ever that means) to Hillary, yes I would in a second. Do I believe Hillary would be a gun grabber if elected, yes I do believe she would, I am confident she would work towards Grabbing our Guns.... as making reference to your neighbor... not sure if your comments are exaggerated... but your everyday Gun owner does not act that way and are very normal everyday pepole...

      Delete
    5. Well, I guess we now know where you stand! Just to be sure, I WAS referring to Cruz the school shooter, NOT the Texas Senator. I sincerely hope you misunderstood. As far as Hillary, I was able to LEGALLY purchase one example of EVERY main battle and assualt rifle in use worldwide (and several that weren't) under the so-called Clinton gun ban. So much for the propeganda. And no, I'm not exagerating the behavior of my neighbor; and I've met MANY that were worse! I've been inside the Alt-right; they're no more "normal" than Trump's "good Nazis," because they ARE Trump's "good Nazis!" I'M a normal everyday gun owner, THEY are domestic terrorists!

      Delete
    6. Yes was referring to Cruz from Texas, as that is who I thought you were referring..

    1. If you're going to make statements like that, you should have the courage to come out from behind the "anonymous" curtain and use your name.

      Delete
    2. Why, so you can find out where the person lives and do them bodily harm? Try to get them fired from their job? Slash their tires or shoot out their windows? Why else would it take "courage?" The last "gutsy" person that complained about an anonymous post doesn't live here. Do you? Some of us do, and are smart enough not to trust you! You COULD put your address, photo, licence plate number, etc. on your posts, Mr. Lemire, and make it EASY to find you. Would that be "courageous," or just stupid?

5:42, an anonymous post of hearsay about someone known to the public deserves nothing better than a critical response.

Roger, you've posted a couple comments against anonymity lately, so I'll just point out that your going by your first name only, a fairly common name at that, isn't all that unanonymous either.

      Delete
    4. 5:42 here, and you're right Philip, on both counts. I was not the original poster, though. I was simply responding to the response, which sounded more like a threat than a critique. Roger jumped in, and it took off from there....You once suggested that I use a pseudonym, and I did, for awhile. All I got for my trouble was a slew of rude comments based on a corruption of the name. So, ANONYMOUS I shall remain!

    1. My curtains are always open, which is more than I can say for some of the Trump supporters in MY neighbohood. Blacked-out windows and four-foot-tall grass are the norm! A gun in every room, sneaking around in the dark, etc! You see, I make comments like these because I KNOW the "Alt-Right," and have for many years! I even have a few relatives like that. Paranoid, delusional people on the ragged edges, trying to scare their neighbors with guns, and threats just vague enough to avoid arrest. Sooner or later, they snap, and innocent people die. The Parkland shooter (a Trump supoorter) was on law enforcement radar for YEARS before he went berserk. The only reason anyone would need to know my name, or anyone elses, is RETALIATION. Yeah, my curtains stay open; I don't cave in to terrorism. But you can be DAMNED SURE I don't turn my back on it! I'll keep my anonymity, at least for now. If you ever read my name on a news site, it won't be for shooting innocent people; I'm not sure about you!

    1. From his profile, he sounds more likely to be a Trump supporter than Clinton. He would have bought into NRA rhetoric that Clinton would take his guns. This nut job and other nut jobs should not possess this type of gun. Assault rifles are made to kill as many people as fast it can. The bullets will pierce a bulletproof vest and the clips can hold over 50 bullets. Which side are you on? I support law enforcement, not the NRA.

And why would you suggest that 7:03 should close his curtains? Is that a threat or "wink" ?
