Workshop will focus on improving public speaking skills

The Rev. M'ellen Kennedy will hold a workshop on speaking in public, for large or small groups. The small group workshop will take place from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Saturday, June 9 at the Springfield Unitarian Universalist Church, 21 Fairground Road, Springfield.

Anyone interested in learning about or improving their skills and comfort in speaking without script is invited to attend. Participants will receive resources, support and techniques for public speaking.

The workshop participants will work in safe, respectful small groups where they can practice for presenting, such as at work, volunteer settings, social engagements or church.

Registration is $35, and generous scholarships are available, supported by the New York State Convention of Universalists.

To register, download a registration form at uuspringfieldvt.org/about/staff/rev-dr-mellen-kennedy/. For questions or scholarship requests, contact Kennedy at mellenken@aol.com.

Kennedy is passionate about helping speakers find their authentic voice, according to a press release. She has practiced the art of speaking without a manuscript and storytelling for many years, and is co-founder of Preaching from the Heart and of the Small Group Ministry Network. She is an ordained Sufi Cheraga and a Unitarian Universalist minister serving the Springfield UU Church.
