On Wednesday, June 20 at 1 p.m. we enjoyed our own Senior Center Play: "Independence Day at Happy Meadows." Terri Emerson, Judy Bastille, Carol Peebles, Nancy McLernon, Pat Graves and David Parker entertained us with their escapades to escape a nursing home on the 4th of July. Directed by Val Woodbury, it was a large success with many laughs. Light refreshments were served during intermission.
A big thanks to the Springfield Elks Club BPOE #1560, for their donation of $1,700. It will be greatly used. We have just purchase more yoga equipment, chairs, mats, and weights.
I would like to take this time to introduce myself, my name is Lori Johnson and I am the new Senior Center director. I am a lifelong resident of Springfield so I have seen many familiar faces here at the center. I am excited and look forward to meeting all of you and continuing the success of the Springfield Senior Center. Please stop in over the summer months to say hi and introduce yourself.
As the summer approaches some of our programs will be ending. We will be doing Nickle Bingo, Game Days, and an occasional shuffleboard, and cribbage days. The foot clinics and Knit Wits will still meet.
The popular Brent Buswell will be performing at 1 p.m. Tuesday, June 26. This is a favorite of many.
Nickle Bingo with Roger Newhall will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 27. All are welcome to join in the fun.
The center will be closed on Wednesday, July 4.
