Community barbecue competition

A free Celebration and Barbeque will be held at the North School Recreation Area on Saturday, August 4th from 11 am to 4 pm. Instead of the usual first Friday Free Community Dinner at the North Springfield Baptist Church, church members and neighbors are planning a free community celebration and barbeque with a contest to see who can prepare the best-pulled pork barbeque.

The community picnic will go from 11 am to 4 pm with lunch provided around noon. You can contact the North Springfield Baptist Church (NSBC) at 802-886-8107 or nsbc@vermontel.net if you would like to participate in the community barbeque competition and learn more about the rules.

A panel of community representatives will be the judges for the barbeque competition. We will have barbeque enthusiasts challenge our neighbors and business owners for bragging rights of the best pulled pork barbeque. Community friends, neighbors, and businesses will be chosen to be blind taste testers to determine the best pulled-pork.

Criteria to be considered; (1) a portion of the barbeque preparation must occur at the Saturday, August 4th Community Celebration and Barbeque, (2) taste, (3) aroma, (4) plating (display, presentation).

North Springfield Baptist Church family and friends will offer sausages with peppers and onions, salads, water, lemonade, and desserts along with other pot-luck options to complete the free dinner. Bring your own chairs, lawn games, and non-alcoholic beverages, if desired. Help us make this a happy and fun filled day with friends, family, neighbors, visitors and guests as part of this Summer 2018 Celebration and Barbeque.
