Windsor County race for Senate may be state’s new bellwether

If the state Senate race in Windsor County is an indication of things to come, then gun rights and high taxes may be the pivot to get out the opposition vote for the Aug. 14 primary as well as the November election.

Vote for local control

The political campaign season is here once again. Vermonters have another chance to make a much needed course correction in the relationship we have with our state government.

The forced school closures and mandated mergers involved with Act 46 are tyrannical. Local stakeholders, which include parents, grandparents, taxpayers and every voter, should be determining if their rural schools should stay open or be closed. These decisions should never belong to Gov. Phil Scott, the Vermont Agency of Education, or the current Windsor County senators who voted for Act 46.

Windsor County has three liberty-minded, Republican candidates running for the Vermont Senate. These three are dedicated to putting an end to the forced school mergers, school closures and the tyranny of Act 46. Please support and vote for Randy Gray, Jack Williams and Wayne Townsend. These good men will fight to return control of our public schools to local, democratically elected town school boards. The primary election is on Tuesday, Aug. 14. Please go to the polls and vote.

Sincerely,
Stu Lindberg
Cavendish, Vermont

  1. Go Randy Gray, anything would be better than Dick McCormick, he has done nothing for Windsor County for to long. Fresh Blood new ideas with a Conservative approach might just help this county go in the right direction. Gun rights and High Taxes are a couple of good items to get straight, we know what side of the Gun bill McCormick voted, lets see what Randy does. Good Luck Randy!

    2. LOL, what deal, lose an election so just resort to name calling, grow up this is the real world we are talking about. Name calling and a lack of thoughts and ideas is what cost Trump Haters the election, you get so wound up in the Hate that you can't think straight.

    3. Whistling past the graveyard, eh Roger? It's OK, Trump's performance on the world stage will do more damage than I can. Anyone who still supports him at this point (Randy Gray) needs to have their head examined!

    4. Have no clue what "Whistling past the graveyard" means. But you are in loony land when you compare a local election of this sort to Donald Trump. Neither of these guys have met him (Trump), nor follow him closely I'm sure except for the news, nor do they desire to be like him, they are focused on Windsor County and Vermont and not what Trump does, I doubt either of them have ever mentioned him in their campaign's. But you as a Trump Hater can't get past Trump to look locally for one blog post. You guys or gals need help, you need help.

    5. I think it's fair game to compare a politician to the one at the top of his/her party. How many times did I hear the words "Obama/Pelosi agenda" when describing local and state Democrats? Too many to mention! If you differ that much from your party's orthodoxy, I think it is incumbent (no pun intended) upon a candidate to explain how and why. Randy Gray ran as a "Tea Party" candidate last time, so I don't believe his views are significantly different from the alt-right, who are Trump's base. These things matter!

  5. McCormack, a liberal flatlander from NYC has served in Montpelier the last 30 years effectively destroying Vermont's economy. Think not, just look at stark contrast on both sides of the Conn River valley. So bad Vermont is futilely attempting to pay people to move here! Effectively becoming a laughing stock across the country of those in the technology field. If there is any question to the validity of Einstein's quote, "insanity is doing the same thing expecting a different result," go ahead and prove how crazy/ignorant you are. Then, don't bemoan your children and grandchildren leaving Vermont to make a future for themselves. I did, and it's the wisest choice I made to have a prosperous career and meet a compatible souse, (of the opposite sex.). My life rocks!

    2. 5:13 It has to do with the Haters can't let it go, and they bring the Electoral College up in years that it goes against them, and forget that it exist in years that it works for them. In the past 24 years Democrats have averaged 313 Electoral Votes to Republicans 224 votes, again you only hear the Democrats complain when they lose. What that tells me is Trump out smarted and out worked Hillary, thus working smarter and harder proves the man deserves to win. This being a Republican value and shows the lazier Democrat just expected the hand out for a win.

    Even Better...

    1. Harry, We the people of these United States duly elect a president to lead us, and this President shows nothing more than his leadership. I see nothing that leads to him as a fascist, nor his superiority. There are a small percentage of people that are just so hatful, that they can not accept that he was elected and he is leading. It makes them feel better about themselves to "resist". The only difference in these times and past years is their right to Freedom of Expression which is noticed more because of the technological and media world we live in.

    2. Don't you mean "We, the un-elected Electoral College?" If you want to keep deluding yourself, Roger, there's nothing We The People can do about it. Trump lost, and his detractors come from all across the political spectrum. We The People, who don't like Trump, ARE THE MAJORITY. Trump is leading this country down a rat-hole.

Is so, we are blessed to have such an effective president. By the way, have you ever noted how masculinely and respectful world leaders shake hands with Trump?

  8. Harry, my observation has been liberals are the party selfishness. Lazy, ignorant, idealistic, under achievers that demand handouts, and services the rest of us involuntary bankroll Here's a concept, pay your own way.

Once you sacrifice by investing in yourself via delayed gratification, technical education, or mastering a viable trade and saving wisely, the whole community benefits. Alternatively, you have the depressed, blighted, opiate infested rathole and overwhelmingly liberal bastion Springfield has become. Think not? Just drive by the U-Turning Point to witness the ambition handouts generate.

  14. Roger, Roger, Roger. As crazy as it may seem there's a sliver of sympathy inside me for you and your views. Only because i was raised indoctrinated by Fox News and a small country church, but my sympathy is more pity than anything else, as I stand on the other side of a long road of hate, selfishness, cynicism, and closed minded thinking. As I read all of your points I hear that still small voice of George Orwell. The things you say really mean something contrary to what it seems. If you've read 1984, you know what I mean when I refer to double speak. I feel now more than ever, we exist in a state where the Trump Blowhards bellow the double speak anthem. Like a resounding broken gong "War is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength," you say. The day is coming where your generation will pass on, and waiting to take its place will be a new era of open minded, kind hearted, and intellectual people. A people who can't sleep at night knowing that people suffer and starve in the richest country in the world. Who don't mind paying their fair share of taxes so under privileged children don't have to eat cat food. So, enjoy your imperialistic campaign for global dominion masked as a "war on terror" , enjoy the working class that waits on peanuts that'll never come from a rich class that often pay ZERO taxes, and most of all, keep telling yourself that those rewards in heaven that you're sowing in this life will come from your "good will" here in this life. I do hope staunch conservatives are rewarded for their deeds. I hope the reward for a life of denial and superficiality comes in the shape of an eternity of a celestial North Korea. The clock is ticking. Tick Tock Roger, Tick Tock.

To think you could opine who I am and how much tax I pay, and that I don't consider others in this world, tells a lot about yourself. You had those words in your head before you read what I wrote. Because your so closed minded to the fact that all Conservatives have one thought process, which completely debunks your points.
