Kickoff event for Button Up Campaign

There is no denying that this was a very hot summer. Now it is time to think about buttoning up and getting ready to stay warm this winter in an environmentally kind manner. The Springfield Town Energy Committee can help you do this.

The committee is participating in Efficiency Vermont’s Button Up Campaign. The first event of the campaign, “One Evening…Two Workshops,” will be Thursday, Oct. 4 at the First Congregational Church in Springfield. Doors open at 5:30 p.m.

The first workshop, starting at 6 p.m., will be “Do Cold Climate Heat Pumps Make Sense for You?” Cold climate heat pumps have rapidly emerged as a promising technology for Vermont. At this workshop, you will learn about heat pump options for both hot water and space heating to see if they make sense for your home. This workshop will cover the latest in heat pump technology, the relative economics of using heat pumps versus other fuel sources, successful case studies, and financial and technical resources.

The second workshop, “Beyond Heating with Cord Wood,” will cover how modern wood heating works, the relative cost and savings compared to other fuel sources and systems, and financial incentives available. This workshop will start at 7:30 p.m.

Both workshops will be led by Steve Spatz, a residential energy consultant with Efficiency Vermont. The workshops will be held at the First Congregational Church at 77 Main Street in Springfield starting at 6 p.m. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be provided. This event is co-sponsored by Efficiency Vermont in partnership with the Springfield Energy Committee.
