Why Steampunk in Springfield, Vt.? September 16, 2018 SPRINGFIELD, Vt. – The Steampunk Festival may be taking a break this year, but Steampunk will be alive at the Springfield Town Library Thursday, Sept. 20 at 6:30 p.m. Join us to view a wonderful film by Byrd Mcdonald and learn the origins of the Steampunk movement. The film is not rated. But why Steampunk in Springfield, Vt.? Matthew Gorsky, active with the Steampunk Society of Vermont and the Springfield Steampunk Festival, will introduce the film touching on the Industrial Revolution with a focus on local contributions to the machine tool industry. He will also explain Steampunk’s ties to the “maker movement.” Discussion will follow the film. Come wearing Steampunk fashion or not, but do join us for this enlightening and entertaining evening of Steampunk at the Springfield Town Library, 43 Main Street, Springfield, Vt., Thursday, Sept. 20. Don’t forget Katherine Paterson, author of the 2018 Vermont Reads book “Bread and Roses, too” will be speaking at the Springfield High School Auditorium Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 6:30 p.m. This event is sponsored by the Vermont Humanities Council and the Springfield Town Library in collaboration with the Springfield Unitarian Universalist Congregation, the Springfield Art and Historical Society, and the Springfield Co-op.
