Harlem Rockets coming to Springfield for fundraiser

The Harlem Rockets, a talented group of basketball entertainers who combine incredible show time basketball skills and family-friendly comedy will face the Springfield Dream Team this month in a game benefiting the Springfield Booster Club and Springfield Athletics. Buy your tickets now.

The Springfield Booster Club will be hosting these very special guests on Friday, November 16th at 7:00pm in Dressel Gym – Riverside Middle School in Springfield.

Having played over 2500 games in 16 years without a single defeat, the Harlem Rockets offer something for everyone to enjoy. Sports enthusiasts will be intrigued by the athleticism and size of the Rockets. Basketball aficionados will be dazzled by the long range accuracy of “General Electric” Junie Sanders. Satiated by the extraordinary tricks and ball-handling skills of Solomom Bamira a former Harlem Globetrotter. The building will be rocking with the thunderous dunks of the high-flying “Jet Blue” Cliff Malone.

And since this is comedy basketball, the Harlem Rockets present to you the All Time Funny Man and one of Show Basketball’s Greats, James “Speedy “Williams, who was featured in the movie, “Above The Rim” starring Tupac Shakur and Duane Martin. Speedy was also one of the “Original Nike Free-Style Ballers” in Nike Commercials. And, Speedy performed live at the MTV Music Awards while Jay Z did his thing. Better known as The “Crowned Prince Of Laughs”.

The Harlem Rockets incorporate the audience, especially children, into the show and are always available to meet the fans and give autographs at halftime and after the game.

In this special event to raise money for the Springfield Booster Club, the Springfield Dream Team have graciously agreed to face the Harlem Rockets. The 2018 Springfield Dream Team include: Michael Ruppel, Joe Cerniglia, Corrie Smith, Paul Stagner, Keith Eno, Jason Phelps, Craig Streeter, Greg DeAngelis, Lyndsey Perkins, Geoff Murchie, Kelly DeAngelis, Nate McNaughton, Christine Pereira, Jeff Perkins, Erin Rounds, Stephen Lawrence, Aaron Streeter, Shaun Smith, Todd Aiken, Floyd Buck and Nate Webster. The Dream Team will be coached by Joel Gomez and the game official is the beloved Jeff Murchie.

Dream Team player and Union Street Teacher, Erin Rounds states, “It’s been a long time since I have been on the court. I may be out of practice and out of shape but I’m excited to represent our schools and town to raise money for the Booster Club.” When Erin was asked to join the team she immediately said yes, and within a few days reported with excitement that she had just purchased a pair of basketball sneakers for the game.

Tickets for what promises to be a fun-filled evening are available at the following Springfield locations: Jake’s South Street Market on South Street, Vianor Tire on Chester Road and The Community Center on Main Street. Tickets can also be purchased by contacting the Springfield Booster Club or at the door the night of the game.
