Santa Claus is coming to town

Calling all kids and their families! Greet Santa as he arrives by fire truck to light the Springfield town tree. Be in People’s United Bank parking lot on Main Street at 6 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 7.

Before you do that, pick up your sticker map starting at 4 p.m. in the Springfield On the Move (SOM) space inside People’s Bank building. Then visit downtown businesses and organizations to get special treats and stickers to put on your maps. When maps are full, return to the SOM space for your goodie bags filled with surprises. You can talk to Santa in his special house until 9 p.m. Caroling with the Springfield Band and Chorus will begin in the People’s United Bank parking lot on Main Street near Santa’s House at 5:30 p.m.

Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce and Springfield On the Move are once again collaborating to bring the Family Holiday Program to downtown Springfield. The chamber has invited Santa and Mrs. Claus to come to town and have arranged for the town tree, Santa’s house, and caroling.

Sponsors of maps and goodie bags include Alpha Delta Kappa, Mascoma Bank, Springfield Adult Day Service, Springfield Housing Authority, Springfield Medical Care Systems, and SOM.

Santa will continue to have visiting hours from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 10, Wednesday, Dec. 12, and Wednesday, Dec. 19. For more information call the Chamber of Commerce office at 885-2779 or Springfield On the Move at 885-1527.
