Local incidents responded to by the Springfield Police Department, week of August 9 through the 15th.
SPRINGFIELD POLICE LOG AUG. 9 - AUG. 15
Sunday, August 9th
A 19 year old Chester male was arrested and charged with Disorderly Conduct by Phone after he repeatedly made phone calls to another party that were offensive and threatening in nature. This makes the second time in less than 4 months this male has been arrested and charged with the same offense. The male was processed and cited to appear in Windsor County District Court at a later date to answer to the above charge.
At 16:24 hours officers and Springfield EMS responded to a report of a single-car motor vehicle accident on the Chester Road. Upon investigation, it was found that a Subaru Legacy operated by and elderly Chester resident veered off the roadway, actually became airborne for a short distance where it then continued down over a small embankment after the operator reportedly fell asleep. The posted speed limit in the area is 50 mph. The operator was transported to Springfield Hospital for back & neck pain and was later released. Damage to the vehicle was estimated at $4000.00.
An 18 year old Rindge, NH female faces charges of Disorderly Conduct and Reckless Endangerment after she created a disturbance and endangered the safety of officers and hospital staff after being transported to the Springfield ER following a motor vehicle crash in Bellows Falls. The female has been cited to appear in Windsor County District Court at a later date to answer to the above charges.
Monday, August 10th
At 17:49 hours officers and Springfield EMS responded to a report of a two-car motor vehicle accident on the Chester Road near the intersection of Fairground Road. No major injuries were reported. This accident is still under investigation.
Tuesday, August 11th
Just prior to 9 a.m. officers and Springfield EMS responded to a report of car vs bicycle accident in the area of 371 River Street. No additional information is available at this time as the accident is still under investigation.
Wednesday, August 12th
A 43 year old Springfield male was arrested and charged with DUI #2. Upon contact with the individual, officers could smell what was described as an overwhelming odor of intoxicating liquor emanating from the vehicle. A roadside PBT (Preliminary Breath Test) indicated a BAC of .168, twice that of the legal limit. The male was subsequently transported to the PD where he was processed and cited to appear in Windsor County District Court at a later date to answer to the above charge.
At 12:15 officers and Springfield EMS responded to a report of car vs motorcycle accident on Clinton Street. No additional information is available at this time as the accident is still under investigation.
A Springfield man was arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct and Attempted Aggravated Assault following an incident early this evening. A local resident called police after his neighbor approached him yelling obscenities and threatened to assault him with a beer bottle. Witnesses in the area heard the disturbance and advised they had lived on the street for 40 years and never had a disturbance like that. The male was subsequently transported to the PD where he was processed and cited to appear in Windsor County District Court at a later date.
Friday, August 14th
A 36 year old Springfield woman was arrest and charged with Domestic Assault following an investigation into allegations that she had assaulted her 12 year old son. The woman was processed and cited to appear in Windsor County District Court at a later date to answer to the above charge.
While on an assist to another law enforcement agency, officers came in contact with a 23 year old Charlestown male who was identified as a primary suspect in a rash of cigarette thefts from local convenience stores and who was also positively identified as the offender in an armed robbery of one said store earlier in July. The male subject was taken into custody and transported to the PD where he was processed and subsequently lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility in lieu of $10,000 bail. The male will appear for arraignment at Windsor County District Court.
