The great pumpkin grower

Springfield's Wilbur Horton placed in the top 10 in a field of 25 in the pumpkin judging at Topsfield Fair in Topsfield, Mass.

They called him "Mr. Consistent" as this pumpkin just happened to be exactly the same weight as his entry last year-- 1,237 pounds! The Topsfield Fair is the oldest agricultural fair in America. It's been held every fall since 1818. Horton has been entering pumpkin competitions since 2006. He kept a very extensive growers diary of his efforts and progress this year which is all online complete with dozens of photos. Wilbur - 2010 Grower Diary
