Minutemen break free of Cosmos

In Springfield, Amanda Ley led the way with 12 points and Mill River won its second straight game, 42-23 over Springfield on Saturday in Marble Valley League basketball.
The Minutemen broke away after a sluggish first half which ended with Mill River leading 19-10.
“We changed some things up defensively and that was the key for us,” MR coach Ken Webb said of the second half. “They (Springfield) didn’t have a lot of ball movement.”
Madeline Pritchard also played a big role for Mill River, scoring 10 points off the bench with six coming after intermission.
Maureen Taggart also had 10 points for the Minutemen, 6-3 going into Friday’s game at Woodstock.
Liza Fontaine had nine points and Desmond Dana six for Springfield.
