Pair arrested with $6,000 in pills

Two Springfield men traveling on Route 5 initially stopped by police for a minor traffic violation are behind bars now on drug charges.

At about 6 p.m. Saturday, a State Police officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in Rockingham after the driver, 21 year old Malik Hale of Springfield, failed to use a directional signal. During a search of the vehicle, approximately 305 prescription pills were located in a vacuum sealed plastic bag in the trunk. The pills were a mix of Oxycodone and Percocet tablets. The approximate street value of the pills is $6,000.

Both Hale and his passenger Bryce Whitney (also 21 from Springfield) were subsequently arrested and charged with felony possession of a regulated drug. They were both held at the Southern State Correctional Facility for lack of $5,000 bail. Hale and Whitney were cited to appear in Windham Superior Criminal Court.

    1. Know one knows how bad pills mess with you unless u actually do them... they mess up ur mind an make u do things u would never do ... your not yourself anymore! Everyone makes mistakes! People shouldn't be just pointed their fingers and saying the whitney kid stole from rite cause everyone knows around town who really did it! Just know one will say anything... but that's how it goes! Anyone can change and just because someone makes one mistake... shouldn't be labeled as a bad kid! The Whitney kid will be alright and sounds to me he has a plan for a new life for himself an his family!

  6. You say "everyone knows around town" who robbed Rite Aid?" Well, I live here and don't know. Can you enlighten me and tell me who did it then? And maybe you know who robbed Jasinskis as well?? Please do tell. Oh, and I don't care what people do with their lives as far as pill taking goes, I personally think it is stupid. But others may have the same opinion about weed, although, weed is better than prescription drugs and cigarettes, but what is legal and illegal are backwards. I am a proud weed smoker. :) They do more for my aches, pains and mind then any pill will ever do. Just a thought!
