A low lying section of route 5 about one mile south of the Charlestown Road intersection was underwater for a time on Friday.
Although it seemed like nothing compared to Friday's road flooding in Japan, motorists were told to seek an alternate route. It had rained most of the night and warm temperatures were melting snow so the situation might well have worsened before the flooding receded. But not long after, the decision was made to reopen the road to one lane with caution signs set up, water still across the roadway.
Drivers are reminded that vehicles hydroplane, please slow down when approaching larger pockets of water on the roadways!
