VTRANS worker victim of road rage on I-91

A Springfield man is facing charges of aggravated assault after he drove his car into a highway worker who was attempting to stop him from making an illegal u-turn.

While investigating a tractor trailer accident near mile marker 68, I-91 southbound in Hartford, Vermont State Police learned of an assault that had just occurred in a U-turn in which VTRANS worker Clarence Poston was the victim.

Investigation revealed that John Shevenell, 58, grew tired of waiting in stopped traffic and attempted to illegally use a U-Turn.

Poston attempted to explain to Shevenell that he could not use the U-turn. An argument ensued and Shevenell accelerated his vehicle into Poston who was standing in front of it. He continued through the U-turn and fled the scene.

Shevenell, a resident of Springfield, was charged with aggravated assault and is due in Windsor District Court Criminal Division at a later date.
