Not much will change
Osama bin Laden is dead. Nothing will change. We will not leave Afghanistan or Iraq. We will not be able to board a plane without disrobing and being groped — unless we are flying first class. The security alert level will still be at orange. We will continue to be sheep herded by politicians scaring us about Islamofascism and praising us for our patriotism.
We will not focus on improving public education, the nation’s infrastructure, the encroaching oligarchy, the inequitable tax structure. We will not close Guantanamo. We will not prosecute the Wall Street financial terrorists. We will not protect the 3.5 million still facing foreclosure or bring justice to the 7.5 million whose homes were stolen from them. We will not receive justice from the Supreme Court. We will not be allowed to recover the American dream by waking up from the American nightmare.
Osama bin Laden has accomplished far greater destruction of American democracy than he ever dreamed possible.
