Springfield’s Eureka Schoolhouse seeks volunteers
The Eureka Schoolhouse, a schoolroom and historic site recreated as a 1790s-era experience, will re-open on May 28 and the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce is looking for volunteers and help in staffing and supporting the site.
The schoolhouse features the actual schoolroom set-up with desks and learning materials of the period. It is one of the oldest public structures in Vermont, and with a picnic site and the Baltimore Covered Bridge adjacent, it offers a respite for visitors.
The historic site also showcases the Springfield area and gives information about events locally and statewide.
The Springfield Lions Club has agreed to provide volunteers who give a bit of local flavor to the inquiries of our visitors; however, more volunteers are needed.
If you enjoy meeting new people, delight in the history of the Springfield area and would like to help keep Eureka Schoolhouse open and operating then please contact theSpringfieldRegionalChamber of Commerceat 885-2779 or via email at carolcole@springfieldvt.com
