SPRINGFIELD — Springfield On The Move will be hosting a fundraiser to benefit economic development efforts.
The “Nesting in Springfield” auction and fundraiser will take place at the Hartness House Inn on Friday, Aug. 19.
Proceeds support the downtown façade program and recruit potential businesses to the area.
Events kick off at 5 p.m. with Springfield’s version of the “Antiques Road Show.” Antique collectors are encouraged to bring valuable items to the event and they will be valued by experienced appraiser James Marquis.
At 7 p.m., over 50 birdhouses will be sold at the auction. The birdhouses were built by several woodworkers and they are currently on display at 2 Valley St. in Springfield. Other items to be auctioned include two ocean kayaks, a week-long vacation on an ocean front condo in Fort Myers, Fla., a two-night stay in Boston, two days use of a mini-excavator, a dinner-for-two at the Weathersfield Inn, jewelry, and more. The auction will be conducted by local auctioneer John Hall.
The “Nesting in Springfield” auction will also include a $1,500 raffle drawing. Tickets may be purchased at People’s United Bank or the Springfield Chamber of Commerce on Main Street.
Admission is free and hors d’oeuvres will be served. For more information call Springfield On The Move at 885-1527.
