Fire Damages Apartment Complex in N. Springfield

North Springfield, Vt. -- Flames damaged at least a dozen apartment units at Waterford Village on Route 106 in North Springfield, Vt, according to police and fire officials.

They said rescuers transported one person to the hospital, because the person was having difficulty breathing.

Red Cross volunteers have been setting up a family service center. This is taking place at the Springfield Community Center on Main Street.

The building was once a 16-unit motel. As of 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were still on the scene. They said the flames at that point were pretty much out and under control.
